Collection: Randi Solin

Randi Solin is a contemporary glass artist based in Brattleboro, Vermont, with over 30 years of experience in the medium. Solin earned a B.F.A. from the New York College of Ceramics at Alfred University, New York, and established her first glass studios in Northern California.

Her work has been exhibited internationally and is included in prestigious collections, such as the White House, nine U.S. Embassies, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City . She has also received multiple "Best in Show" and "Best in Glass" awards at art festivals across the United States.

Solin’s work is characterized by its depth and optical complexity, often featuring a pronounced "front" and an Asian-influenced simplicity that allows her intricate coloration process to unfold. She approaches glassblowing as a painter would a canvas, layering various forms of glass—powder, cane, frit, and rod—to create rich, textured compositions.

The optics of Solin’s work - the cut and polished top - is an integral piece of her process, her signature of sorts and an important component of her work. She has said, “My optics serve as the window into my coloration process, into the “soul” of a piece, allowing the viewer to peer into its interior life, like the rings of a tree. All of my pieces are intellectually created on that notion, that with each finished work a history is revealed.”

Solin creates her work at Fire Arts Vermont, her studio in Brattleboro, where she continues to push the boundaries of glass as a medium, blending traditional techniques with her unique artistic vision.
